The Opposite of Exploitation

ree

Hi friend,

Did you see our annual report last month? If not, you can catch up HERE. One of the numbers that stood out was this: last year, we provided 2,552 hours of case management. That’s the equivalent of 63 full-time weeks spent walking alongside survivors, week after week, step by step, toward freedom.

Why It Matters

For survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking, the journey to restoration is long and complex. Healing from deep trauma, creating new rhythms, and building a stable foundation for the future takes time, trust, and a community that refuses to give up.

Exploitation strips away safety, dignity, and connection. We believe the antithesis is relationship, and case management is one of the most powerful tools we have to restore hope and rebuild lives.

What It Is

Through case management, each survivor works with a trusted case manager to imagine a new future, set goals, and receive the encouragement and support they need to move forward. Together, they tackle goals like:

  • Accessing healthcare and community resources

  • Building life skills for independence

  • Pursuing education and employment

  • Developing healthy relationships and parenting skills

  • Strengthening mental, physical, and spiritual health

  • Securing safe housing and a stable income

Each meeting is more than a strategy session. It’s a moment of encouragement, a reminder that no one has to walk this road alone, and an opportunity to build skills and be empowered.

Our Approach

We believe lasting change is only possible when it’s chosen and embraced by survivors themselves. That’s why we focus on trust, self-determination, and encouragement at every step.

Our case managers use the model of “do for, do with, cheer on.” Whether it’s filling out a form, attending an appointment, or practicing a new skill, survivors are encouraged as they learn, supported as they grow, and celebrated as they succeed. Over time, confidence builds, resilience grows, and independence takes root.

A Holistic Path to Healing

Case management works hand in hand with our RESTORE program, which provides somatic, culturally responsive, and disability-informed mental health care. Together, they create wraparound support, ensuring each survivor has both the practical tools and the emotional healing they need to imagine and pursue a new future.

And because restoration doesn’t happen only in formal meetings, our Residential Support Coordinator plays a vital role in carrying case management into daily life. By working closely with the direct service team, the Residential Support Coordinator helps translate big-picture goals into practical routines, whether that’s planning meals, managing income, navigating transportation, or maintaining a safe home environment. This connection ensures that survivors not only set goals but also build the rhythms and skills to sustain them.

The Impact of Your Support

Every hour of case management represents more than just time; it represents hope. It’s a survivor gaining the courage to apply for their first job. A mother learning new parenting rhythms. A young woman signing a lease on her very first apartment.

Your generosity makes these moments possible. By investing in case management, you’re not just supporting a program; you’re walking with survivors into healing, stability, and long-term freedom.

For Freedom,

ree
